The INC Rumor Mill thread

In previous games that I’ve played that had forum posting available, some of my storytellers have chosen to allow players to make what’s referred to as “the rumor mill” on the boards. After running the idea by James, I thought we could give it a try.

The rumor mill is a strictly in-character board, but serves mainly out-of-character purposes. In character, the idea is that there are rumors that we hear if we’re being observant, asking the right questions, or hanging out in the right bars. They might be true; they might be wildly off the mark. Usually it’s something in between. Whatever you read on this thread, then, should be taken with a grain of salt, like you would take a rumor in real life. If asked where you heard the rumor while in character, your character doesn’t have a reliable source to name, if any source at all. If you were to answer truthfully, you would have to admit that it’s a rumor or perhaps “common knowledge.”

Out of character, the rumor mill is meant to help share information--or misinformation-- between our characters without actually having to have our characters discuss things. There are some things that you just don’t ask, obviously, but that everyone thinks they know something about. The information that’s on the thread can be about our backstories, about plot, about Moscow or the world, and about the Camarilla or the Sabbat. If you want something to be “common knowledge” about your character or about people who your character knows, post it here and save us the roll while we’re at game.

Most importantly, this is NOT a thread for circulating plot that we see as players going on at the table that our characters have not witnessed or heard about. However, you are not posting this as your character; you are posting this as your out-of-character self. For example, I could not post any details about True Faith Hunters attacking a Sabbat vampire and making him feel judgement by a truly righteous soul (like when Arkady was attacked at Game 3). However, I could post that there’s a rumor that were Hunters in the city and that they had attacked someone, because that’s what Arkady told Kytha. Anything you post here is limited by your in-character knowledge of what’s going on. James said that he’d monitor the boards for metagaming... and for things that cut too close to plot.

If you have any questions, feel free to post them and mark them as out of character. I’ll post a few examples below that can be taken as in-character rumors.


INC:

Rumor has it that the Camarilla are moving to establish a city in Moscow. They say a Prince will be crowned. They say something’s going on in the sewers. But there’s always stuff going on in the sewers, right? But it’s not going to be safe for anybody down there for much longer. Best clear out while you still can.

Rumor has it that a Tzimisce Sabbat with ancient blood and a resume that would make even other Swords squirm booked a flight to Moscow. Nobody knows if that individual got in before the mist, though.

Rumor has it that none of the Kindred--Camarilla or Sabbat-- have been able to enter or leave Moscow for a few days. Their phones don’t work when calling outside the city. Their e-mails get returned to their inboxes. They say something’s coming. Nobody will say what.

Rumor has it that a certain powerful Tzimisce misplaced something precious that a good Sabbat member would do most anything to have. The individual wants it back, too.

Rumor has it that a new Sabbat pack is forming in Moscow. Some people say that the Camarilla will pay triple to learn where any of their havens or ritual sites are.

Rumor has it that there are Hunters in Moscow since the theater burned down. Rumor has it that there might be a few more showing up every couple of days.

(Sabbat) Rumor has it that some one is looking for the Harbingers, and someone has a lead on where they might be.
(Sabbat) Rumor has it that certain Asmite Camarilla kindred has pretended to be Sabbat and being taking out our brothers for the past decade or so.
Rumor has it that couple decade back, a pack of at least five powerful Tremer had vaporized from Earth with all their possession within less than half year.
